The Waiting Game

My lunch buddy, Vivien is playing the waiting game at home. She is on maternity leave and her baby is enjoying the good food and warm enviornment in her womb and refuses to come to in this cold and chilly winter day. Everyday, I see her online, the first question I ask her is “still here?” As she is waiting at home, her friends are waiting along with her.

We, that’s me, my mom, Johnson and Alex were playing the waiting game too. The name of the game is “waiting and waiting at the ER”. Yesterday late afternoon, Alex had high fever, up to 104/105F. I rushed home from work and took him to ER. We got there around 6pm. He was first checked by the nurse around 7pm. Then we have been waiting in the waiting room for another 1.5 hours before we were called into the examine room. By the time we got into the exam room and the Dr. came in around 8:45pm. A 10 mins exam caused us to wait another hour.

The doc performed a throat swab and a nasal swab on Alex, so, we were waiting in the exam room for another hour for the results. I asked the nurse if we should wait outside in the waiting room, or in the exam room. He replied, “just wait inside here. You know how it is, it’s a waiting game”. OK, at least someone in the facilities admitted all we can do was to wait.

Results came back in an hour. Alex didn’t have strep throat. Thanks goodness. No anti-biotics needed. BUT, as the results from the nasal swab indicated, Alex had FLU.

As the doc left the exam room, he said “Alex is a smart boy!” Alex didn’t cry or being fuzzy, even when the doc was performing the swab. All he did was asking “can we go home now?”

Letoonia Golf Resort

Filed under: Friends & Family, Gas $

10 years ago, when golf was the “it” sport to play, while I was working in Hong Kong, I picked up a golf club at the driving range for the first time. Lately, a few of my friends told me they picked up golf again, and have traveled near and far to play at different golf courses. I came across the Letoonia Golf Resort in Belek, near Antalya Turkey, as I was surfing on the web. The resort is just 45 kilometres from the city of Antalya, embracing the magnificent nature and history of the Mediterranean. The Resort is spread over 75-acres of land nestled among pine trees along the seashore and it’s designed for the whole family and passionate golfers. Just took my breath away.

I’m Well, They are Not.

I’m recovered from the flu, but the 2 little rascals are kind of sick out of no where. We went to their cousin Jolie’s first birthday party yesterday, both Ashlyn & Alex had a blast, but that’s another blog post. Out of no where, Ashlyn had the eye infection on her right eye in the middle of the party. When we got home, her left eye was infected as well with discharge. As for Alex, at dinner time, he had fever, 102F. We gave him medicine and the fever subsided, but at 3am, fever came back at 100F, with a little cough.

This morning, took the morning off from work and took the kids to Dr. Yau. He prescribed eye drops for Ashlyn, and cough medicine for Alex.

Just want the both of them get well soon!

I am Down…

with a flu. Aiya, my head is so congested, nose, semi-congested. I knew I was coming down with something since last Thursday, when all the sudden, after lunch, my muscles started to ache, and joints started to feel funny, sore like funny. I was so wanted to go home around 3, but I stayed ’til 6. As soon as I got to my grandma’s home (was gonna stay for dinner), I took the flu medicine and went back to my place to rest.

Felt better on Friday, and today, Sunday, I am official sick with a flu. AAAWWWHHHHHH!! I am home now, supposed to rest after I took the flu medicine, but I decided to clean up and tidy up the place, and dug out the baby clothes for my nephew & necessities for my sister in law, so that my grandma can bring them back to HKG. I am all sweaty now, hopefully the sweats will help me recover faster.

Gifts from Cupid

Filed under: Shopping MaMa, Gas $

Cupid is around the corner, less than a month away. Yup, it’s Valentine’s day.

To dear hubby, this time of the year is worse than Christmas. Why? because my birthday is just a few days prior to cupid day. That means, dear hubby needs to come up with two gifts for me. No worry dear, I am here to help. *Hint Hint*

Check out these promo codes. Zales has a wide selection of jewelry. Overstock.com offers everything from head to toe, or you know, our cellphone plan is eligible for equipment upgrade on my birthday, might want to check out the Apple Store.

Tic Tac Toe

This is one of the over due posts I should have posted last year. Yeah, last year, seems like a long time ago.

We went Reno before Christmas, it seemed like an annual event for the past couple of years, at far as I remembered, since Ashlyn was born. We spent most of the time at the Circus Circus Mid-way, where kids get to play carnaval games. This time around, Ashlyn was old enough to understand the objectives of playing games — to win prizes. She had her eyes on the Rudolph at the Tic Tac Toe game. Good thing we’ve got some 2-for-1 game coupons. After a few tries, she won a medium prize (ugly and not soft, no wonder she didn’t want to keep him), then 2 more small prizes, and she traded up for the Rudolph. She has been carrying the Rudolph everywhere, and it’s as big as she is.

Alex played the game too. As soon as he won a prize from the Tic Tac Toe game, he was off to another one. Lost interests, I guess, or just not as determine as Ashlyn?

Surprise !

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

Surprise! Ashlyn wanted to stay behind in the class as my aunt went to pick her up. I saw that over the IPTV. This happened before the holidays. I could tell she was doing something at the table, but couldn’t tell what she was doing that kept her busy and interested.

My aunt told me that Ms. Parwin asked Ashlyn to help her to finish a craft project. She described to me that Ashlyn was putting some color sand into the jars, like the baby food jars. Days later, just before the holidays began, Ashlyn brought home 2 jars of color rocks. It’s more like those color rock sugar. One is green, the other one is pink. The jars were decorated.

One night, Ashlyn showed them to me and said:
Ashlyn: Mama, the pink is for you, green one is for Baba.

AAAAwwww…. First Xmas gift from Ashlyn!

Need Backup Batteries?

My lunch buddy, Vivien, has been looking for Dell laptop batteries as a backup for her Dell Inspiron 6000, which is an obsolete model, for a long time.

I came across this online shop, Allbatts.com, as I was searching for a backup battery for my digital video camcorder and my new digital camera, I was surprised to find they carry a wide selection of batteries for laptops, desktop computers, PDA, and even batteries for power tools. Which really surprised me was that they also carry cellular phone batteries for Motorola StarTac series, which was a popular model in the 90’s.

Hey Vivien, check them out, you’ll find your batteries, and they carry chargers, AC adapters, and other accessories for your Inspiron 6000 too.

Great Deal!

Elaine told me on Friday afternoon that Old Navy was having a sale. I was thinking, Old Navy had sale everyday, and I checked the website, didn’t really interest me, so I didn’t really pay attention to the price.

I decided to go shopping Friday after work, cux I needed to get a few birthday gifts for my cousins and my nieces, so I went Valley Fair Mall, my all time favorite shopping mall. People who are familiar with the mall, the Macy’s women’s section is located on one end, and the Men’s and Home section is located on the other end. Walking from one end to the other, without going into any of the stores, just straight walking, would probably take10-15 mins. I shopped and walked all the way from the Women’s end (where I parked), to the men’s section (where ON is located). Went into ON, saw they had signs saying “up to 75% off original price after 50% off the lowest ticketed price”, all over the store. *DING!* *DING!”* My eyes just became wide opened, and I spent just about $38. Yeah Yeah Yeah, $38 no big deal. Listen to this, or better yet, take a look at what I got.

1. Men’s long sleeves puffy jacket * 2pcs (final price @ $12.50)
2. Women’s sleeveless puffy vest jacket * 4pcs (final price @ $6.50)
3. Women’s Sleeveless Velvet puffy vest jacket with hood and faux fur trim * 1pc (final price @ $9.98)

Remember, all these items originally priced at $60-70 per piece. With the gift certificates from credit card, all I paid was less than $38 for all those jackets.

I got the red one for Grandma, but it was too small, so I went back the 2nd round on Saturday morning, and got her the size she needs. Obviously, I shopped more.

I was so excited that I found some good deals on Friday night, and knowing Vivien was going to take her visitor to shopping at the Great Mall, I just had to call her while I was driving home. Even she could tell I was excited about my shopping trip.

Oh, you noticed I didn’t buy anything for my 2 little rascals? How could I not? I got them some goodies during my trip #2 and #3. Ha Ha Ha!!

Happy Shopping!

xoxo
