Properties for Sale

Filed under: Friends & Family, Gas $

A few years back, a few friends decided to purchase a home in Phoenix, Arizona as investments. I remembered they had made several trips to check out the markets and properties, look for property managers to take care the rental details. Learned from their experiences, if we were looking for Phoenix real estate for sale in the future, we would hire an experienced real estate agent locally instead, someone who can find us the right mix of properties to choose from. Much less headache.

New Laws in 2008

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed legislation that prohibits the use of hand-held mobile phones while driving in the state, which will be effective July 1, 2008. The legislation prohibits drivers from using a wireless telephone while operating a motor vehicle unless the driver uses a hands-free device. Drivers who violate the law will face a base fine of $20 for a first offense and $50 for each subsequent offense. In addition, all drivers under the age of 18 are not allowed to use cellphone while operating a motor vehicle at all, not even with hand-free devices.

A new smoking law has already took effect on 1/1/2008 - a ban on motorists smoking with children (passengers under age 18) on board. The fine? up to $100. There’s a catch though, the traffic stop would have to be made for another offense, such as speeding, before a vehicle’s occupant could be cited for smoking. I am glad they have passed this law, which will have a positive impact on our health. However, on the other hand, in the land of free, isn’t that kind of invaded our privacy a little bit. Oh well, I guess as long as it will benefit to our health, and the future of our kids and future generations, giving up a little bit of privacy is alright.

After a quick glance of the list of new laws in 2008, I think this gift certificates related law is quite interesting, and I’m all for it. This new law, allows shoppers to cash in gift certificates that have less than $10 left in value. Man, I can finally get rid of all those gift certs with less than $10. More gas $$.

Although the prescriptions pretty much remain the same, but I think it is time for me to get a new pair with updated look. Zenni Optical offers a wide range of frames, from plastic to Titanium. They also have frames for children too. Oh, there are too many of them I like. Well, I guess I can buy a few of them since most of the starting from $8.

Post Holidays Symdrom

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

We were back to work last week, but the post holiday blues still lingering, especially after our company shut down for a week. I am already thinking about my next vacation, maybe some time in late March or early April, depending when my nephew arrives, my brother’s first child. Although I’m not really in the working mode, it’s still the same-o same-o, there’s work gotta be done.

Ashlyn didn’t have the luxury of taking a week or 2 off from school like other daycare facilities. Why? cux her school goes by the corporate calendar, so she got 12/24, 12/25 and 1/1 off. The holiday didn’t affect her school routine at all, in fact, she was looking forward to going back to school.

As for Alex, he took a couple of days off from school due to a bad cold. The first day he was back to school, 12/31, he cried and wouldn’t let go of me when I dropped him off in the morning. All is well and back to normal now, he could care less when I leave, he just plays at the choo choo train table, doesn’t even bother to say Bye. *sigh*

Hotel What?

Hotel Chocolate. Yes, C-H-O-C-O-L-A-T-E !! As in those creamy, luxurious, bitter and sweet, mouthwatering “food”. Drooling yet?

My Aunt, Sylvia, visiting from the UK, and she brought me some chocolate from Hotel Chocolate. The name stuck in my head and I knew I have seen it when we were in London last June. Why? Wouldn’t the name of the “hotel” make an impression in your mind? When I saw the store front when we were taking pictures in front of Harrod’s, it was closed for the day.

I kept on wondering, what kind of shop is it? Maybe it’s really a hotel and it’s painted in chocolate color, decorated with pictures of chocolates, all the travel size shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, and soaps are chocolate scents, everything is chocolate related in one way or the other. We didn’t get close to check it out, so the big “?” lingered for quite a while.

As Auntie Sylvia showed me the paper bag, and pulled out the goodies, the big “?” popped like a water bubble.

Here are the goodies.
First off: truffles. Yum Yum just to think about it.

Honey and Pistacho with milk chocolate. Just read the description on the package. T-O D-I-E F-O-R!!

The third one is the interesting one. Who would have thought people would use these ingredient to make chocolate? Chilli and Orange with Almond, in dark chocolate.

I haven’t tried any of them yet, I must save them for a very special occasion, or wait ’til my brother and sister-in-law come at the end of the month.

Thank you for these special treats, Auntie Sylvia.

Play Piano

Filed under: Gas $, Me Me ME

I started to take piano lessons since I was 4 or 5, on and off until I started college. I think I am quite comfortable reading and playing Classical piano piece, but what I wanted to learn is the Pop music. I was told Classical and Pop are different. With Duane offering lessons can be downloaded from his website, I think should take this chance to start piano lessons & piano chords once again.

Picture Perfect

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

First post of 2008, gotta write and post something positive to start off 2008 blogging well.

12/30/07, we had dinner with the in-laws, that’s including brother and sister-in-law and their daughters. The kids had a great time playing with each other.

At the end of the dinner, in-laws wanted to take a family pictures, it turned out good. The best part was we got an excellent picture of the kids. You know how kids are, they smile and giggle when you’re getting them ready for the picture, then they look away when you’re taking the picture, you could never get a decent picture of a group of kids. That’s why when I choose a camera, shutter speed and display respond time are very crucial, but that’s another story.

Check it out, picture perfect!
