Touch Down

TOUCH DOWN!! I have arrived HKG. I arrived yesterday morning. The flight was pleasant, but to my surprised, I didn’t sleep at all. Majority of my friends know that I sleep on flights, short and long distance, from the moment I got into my seat until the plane pulled up to the bridge. This time, I didn’t sleep. Why? Simply too many great movies offered on the plane. Well, I must mind you that I haven’t been to the movie theater ever since I had my first child, which was almost 4 years ago. Since then, busy with kids, needless to say, didn’t even have time to rent a movie. Yeah, kids are older now, so our choices of movies is limited to Disney. On this 12 hour-flight, I watched American and Chinese movies one after another.

I arrived at 6:20am, I stayed up by keeping myself busy with activities, such as SHOPPING and working (replying emails). I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore at 6:30pm, so I took a 2 hour nap, had dinner, then I went straight to bed at 9pm. I slept through the night (sounds like a new born baby), and woke up at 7am this morning. It’s almost 10pm now, and I feel alright after a day full of activities. I think I should go take a shower and hit the sak.

Mr. Little Pig

I am counting down. Counting down to my upcoming vacation to Hong Kong to see my newly born nephew. Only eight more days, I will be on the plane to Hong Kong.

My nephew, my brother and sister in law call him “little pig”, who doesn’t have an American name yet, is 6 weeks old, but he is already over 10lbs. My mom just came back from Hong Kong about 2 weeks ago, and showed me a picture of Mr. Little Pig. Look at his chin, his round face. What do they feed him?

Recycled Plastic Material

My cousin Ed started to work for a plastic recycle company just about a year ago. Occasionally, we would receive some newsletter and magazines about recycling plastic, and I would flip through the pages.

Just by flipping through the pages, I was a bit confused by all those terminology at first. Then when I read on, did a little research online, I found that plastic recycling was quite fascinating. Just talk about the most common form of recyclable plastic used in consumer product manufacturing, HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), which was used in many of the products we use everyday, such as snack food packages, milk jug, bread tray, and detergent bottles just to name a few.

HDPE is generally categorized as scrap and virgin HDPE granules. To learn more about recycling plastic, check out HDPESCRAP.COM for information.

Get Well Soon!

Last week was terrible. All four of us were sick.

Started off with Alex. He started to have mild fever last Monday morning (3/24), he came the coughing. Fever lingered for 3 days, come and gone, then all the sudden shoot up to 102/103F. He was so weak that when I fed him the medicine in the middle of the night, his little hand shivered as he holding the cup. My heart just dropped and broken. As he was going back to sleep, he murmured a little and insisted on sleeping on my arm. Took him to Dr. Yau, got some anti-biotic, fever was gone in no time. He still cough a little, but he is energetic.

As for Ashlyn, she just had a little running and stuffy nose, that’s all. Baba started to feeling tired as Alex was starting to get sick. He got a lot better after 2 days of sleep. Me? I think I started to sneeze on Tuesday. I tried to fight it, cux I know I can’t be sick when Alex needed my care. As Alex’s fever subsided, I let my guard down, and that’s when I start to feel muscle and joint ache on Saturday. The cold and flu medicine didn’t help, so what did I turn to? Chinese wisdom. I thought about spooning, but I didn’t.

The older generation of Chinese in my family, and I think many Chinese in every corner of the world, believe that when you had flu, you should make yourself sweat. Well, that’s exactly what I did. Not by cleaning the house, washing cars, or exercising. I went to bed. I had a cup of hot herbal tea for flu, and prepare a hot water bag between the sheets(which is a rubber bag that holds hot water and releases warm temperature to keep you warm) just before I jumped into the bed. Then I basically hibernated with 2 goose down comforters for 3 hours, I started to sweat. Although I still cough and sneeze the next day, but all in all, I felt must better. I’m still sick, still coughing, and for some odd reasons, I felt like I’m riding a plane, cux my ears are stuffed by air pressure.

Oh, I hope I’ll get well soon!

Custom Photo Cards

Ever since my first child was born, I have been obsessed with sending emails and greeting cards with her photos on it. When my second child was born, needless to say, pictures of one turned into pictures of two. Every time I saw advertisements of stationary companies that offer “design your own”, “do it yourself”, or “put your favorite pictures here” greeting cards, note pads, and even bank checks, I would stop whatever I was doing and just had to check it out.

I love custom photo cards, especially those with simple, contemporary designs, and neutral color that would fit into any occasions.

photocard

Every now and then, I would pick out a few good pictures of my kids and turned it into photo note cards or photo greeting cards. I just left it blank without any holiday or seasonal greetings, so that I could use it for anybody, anytime, and for any occasion. For example, I have used it as thank you cards after birthday parties, get well cards, or just to say hi cards to relatives who live overseas. I also use it as a gift tag, so that the recipient would know exactly who gave him the gift without second guessing.

There are so many other way I can use a custom photo cards for. You just have to be creative!

Dine in the Sky

Have you dine in the sky before? I have. That is dining on the airplane in the sky. Ha Ha!

It was on Today Show. Dinner in the Sky is hosted at a table suspended at a height of 50 meter, which is about 16.5 feet, by a team of professionals. They prepare, cook, and serve the meal up in the sky. They serve up to 22 people each session. As you can see, they are not serving heavy meal, and I wonder why. For me, I guess I won’t have the appeitite when you ask me to dine 16 feet up in the air. Maybe that’s why they are serving bite size food. I can’t help but wonder, where is the washroom?
