Potty Training - Alex

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

It was so hot the past week, steaming hot, so we decided that it’s a good time to start potty train Alex. The daycare/school has been teaching him to pee sitting down, so Alex is familiar with the drill.

On Wednesday, we didn’t send Alex to school, not because of the heat, he had minor asthma over the weekend, so, we kept him home just to make sure he’s OK. Last Wednesday was HOT! Since Alex was home, my aunt decided to let him to diaper-less. Needless to say, accidents happened. By the time I got home from work in the evening, he had changed so many times that he had to borrow Ashlyn’s pants. He knew when to tell us to bring him to the bathroom, the rest of the evening was fine.

On Thursday, continued to be diaper-less, and he was fine. Didn’t miss a pee.

On Friday, he insisted to go to school diaperless, refused to wear diaper. So, OK, thinking should be fine. When we got to the classroom, he immediately wanted to go pee. I guess he was too excited to pee standing up, he released too early and pee’d on his pants and shoes. So, I ended up changing him and putting diapers on him.

Alex did good on Saturday and Sunday. The moment he woke up, he wanted to go pee and went diaperless the rest of the day.

The only problem I found was that, maybe he’s too excited and nervous, he had to go every 5 minutes or so. Maybe he thinks it’s fun to pee in adult toilet??!! Why? I have picture to proof!

Reconfirm Appointment

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

I am going to take Ashlyn to see the dermatologist tomorrow morning for her rash on her cheek, which resurface on and off for the past few months.

I made the appointment last week. This morning, I received a phone call from the dermatologist office, with an automated message, and using the keypad to reconfirm the appointment. My feeling was, “Wow, automated!”

Just 5 minutes ago, I received a live person phone call from the dermatologist office again. Asking Ashlyn to reconfirm the appointment. Maybe the cellphone reception not great in my cubicle, but I just think the conversation was a bit silly.

O = Office
M = Me

O: Hi, this is the dermatologist office calling to reconfirm Ashlyn’s appointment with Dr. so and so tomorrow morning at 8:45am.
M: This is Ashlyn’s mom. We received a call this morning already.
O: Oh, can you ask Ashlyn to call us back, to reconfirm the appointment? Since she is first time patient, we need her to bring picture ID, insurance card, and referral if applicable.
M: eerrgghh… Well, this is Ashlyn’s mom, Ashlyn is only 3, I don’t think she will return your call. We received a call this morning to reconfirm her appointment already.
O: Oh, I didn’t know. OK, that’s OK. Thank you!

OK? That’s not OK. When I called to make the appointment, I gave them Ashlyn’s birthday already, how come she still wanted a 3 year old to call them to reconfirm the appointment? Isn’t that silly or what?
