S for …

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

Oh No! She said the “S” word. Oh My God!! How did that happen? I don’t remember how the conversation went. As Alex was talking to my cousin Stephanie, all the sudden Ashlyn said the “S” word. She said “Shut Up”. It was a good laugh, but we also explained to her why she shouldn’t say that again.

Princess Birthday - Part 2 of 2

Followed by the party at the childcare center with her friends, we had another celebration at home with relatives. I ordered the cake a month ahead of time at a local grocery store. No, it didn’t take that long to make the cake, it’s just I felt more comfortable putting the order in early. Ever since we ordered the cake, Ashlyn kept on asking me the same question E-V-E-R-Y-D-A-Y! I mean it, everyday!

Ashlyn: Mama, is my cake ready?
Me: No, not yet. Not ready until 6-2-7.
Ashlyn: Why?
Me: EEERRRGGG… because there’s one Princess missing.
Ashlyn: Which Princess?
Me: Jasmine (** I changed the name of the “missing” Princess every time she asked me this question **)
Ashlyn: Oh! ** sounded a little puzzled ** So when will my cake be ready?
Me: ** Taking Ashlyn to the calendar ** You see, today is here, and 6-27 is here.
Ashlyn: OK. ** off she went to watch her DVD’s **

The cake was amazing!! Never thought grocery store could make cakes like that. I was impressed. Obviously, the Birthday Princess was thrilled.

Alex: So what?! I’m gonna get mine soon!

Ashlyn: Ryan, are you having fun?

Alex: You so Funny!! Ha Ha Ha!

I am 4 Years Old!

I love this picture. Ashlyn was jumping up & down, was so excited that she turned 4 years old. It’s like she’s saying “I’m 4! I’m 4!”

Princess Birthday - Part 1 of 2

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

Ashlyn’s 4th Birthday was 2 weeks ago, and I finally had the time to sort out and organize pictures from her birthday parties.

She’s still pretty much into Princess theme, so this year, again, we got her the Princess cakes. We got her a simple Princess sheet cake for the party at the childcare center, another one more elaborated for the celebration at home with relatives.

When I arrived at the childcare center, Daddy was already there with Alex, and Ashlyn was already sitting at the table and waiting for me. It just happened there was a birthday celebration going on in the next door classroom.

Something funny happened, and shocked Ms. Becky. Too bad Ms. Parwin was on leave, I bet she would faint if she saw/heard that happened. Well, Ashlyn doesn’t speak in class, but she didn’t have problems communicating with other kids using body language. They all get along well. They played together, giggled together. I prepared the Princess table cover, as soon as the kids gathered around the tables, Emerald, Ashlyn’s best friend, starting to tell my husband she likes this Princess and that Princess. Johnson asked her if she could name all the Princesses, as soon as she started to name the Princesses, Ashlyn said “this is Cinderella!” Ms. Becky heard that and gasped, totally in disbelieve. Too bad we didn’t catch that on video, otherwise we could share this “special moment” with Ms. Parwin when she returns from her home country.

Need New Frames?

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

My prescription glasses are already 4-year-old, and I think it is time for me to get a new pair, and update the style a bit. The sunsensor (potochromic) lens is what I have in mind. Stylish selection, functional, and affordable prices, zennioptical.com has what I need to fit my budget. Let’s go glasses shopping now.

Happy Independance Day

Oh! It’s finally here. I’ve been looking forward to this long weekend, and so are Ashlyn & Alex. We will be off to Legoland in Carlsbad, California soon. This will be 2nd visit to the Legoland for Ashlyn & 1st for Alex.

Last time we were there, was last July. We were there for half of the day, so we didn’t get to cover the entire park. This time, we must get there early and go for those we missed last time. We must hit the Volvo Jr. Driving School, I’m sure both Ashlyn & Alex will have a blast!

Happy July 4th!!

Cosmetic Dentisry

Just before I stumbled upon Dr. Maddahi’s website, a cosmetic dentist in Beverly Hills, I was just talking with my girlfriend about taking my toddlers for their first dental visit. Both my husband and I believe that dental hygiene is important, especially for toddlers, and kids must be taught when they were young to prevent andn minimize future dental problems. I was always skeptical about braces and teeth whitening procedure until I reviewed Dr. Maddahi’s website, which really opened my eyes. His dental office, or should I say dental spa, uses advanced computer systems, Mini-cameras to educate his patients, and they use painless system to drill the teeth, so you won’t hear those unpleasant squeaky noise. Even Miss Oprah talked about the advanced technology in dentistry that Dr. Maddahi uses.

Iron On - 101

In 2 days, it’s Ashlyn’s 4th Birthday. I have been looking forward to her birthday weeks ago, because she is going to have her first birthday party at the childcare center, celebrating with her new friends.

I have been discussing what to get for the favor bags with Elaine, and finally got all I needed online.

Last week, after a quick lunch in the mall with my lunch buddy, we were attracted by a sign of a kids clothing store. “up to 60% off”, how could we miss it??!! I saw a white tee, with “Birthday Girl” on the front, a little bit of sequins sewed on. The damage? $19.50. In my opinion, and Vivien’s, not worth it. So, over the weekend, the idea of D.I.Y. crossed my mind, since I already bought Ashlyn couple of white tees for $1.99 each. I began to search online for iron on graphics.

Voila! Perfect! Found it! Elaine and Vivien approved it. I’m sure Ashlyn would approve it too, cux it says “Birthday Princess” with lots of blings.

I received the graphic on Tuesday afternoon, as soon as I got home from work, I locked myself in the bathroom, make sure Ashlyn won’t see it, with all the things I needed, I began to work on my little project. As a result, well, see it for yourself.

I’m crafty. What can I say?

Head Lice

Filed under: My 2 Little Rascals

We received an email yesterday from the childcare facility, notifying the parents that there was a case of head lice in Ashlyn’s homebase, or her next door homebase. The kid was sent home immediately, and we were asked to have our kids checked at the entrance for head lice before entering the classroom in the next 10 school days.

As we dropped off Ashlyn this morning, all her blankie, pillow, clothings were already bagged for us to take home to clean. Everything in her homebase was cleaned and disinfected. For the rest of the facility, kids were checked individually at their homebases by caregivers.
